"HOW TO MAKE BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES—AND DO IT ON YOUR OWN" (2019)
"The most unique book on moviemaking that I've ever read."
- SCOTT BILLUPS, author, Digital Moviemaking 3.0; founder & CTO, Stay Well Labs
Book I wrote from 2017-2019 illustrating how to make not just movies, but blockbuster movies—and do it on your own. I highly recommend reading this if you are just starting out, or you're a few years in and you want to get to the next level.
In this book, I outline my entire process and everything that I ever learned about making indepdent movies.
"HOW TO MAKE BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE TRAILERS"
" No other book exists that offers in such great detail practical strategies for making a powerful trailer."
—SCOTT ARUNDALE, author of Modern Post: Workflows and Techniques for Digital Filmmakers
When I started making movie trailers at age 14, there was no information on how to make them. Not that I needed it as I thought my trailers were brilliant. It was only later, when I got in college, that I started to realize there was a vast difference between the trailers I was making, and the ones the big movie studios advertised.
Blockbuster movie trailers.
So I studied movie trailers for years and this book represents all that I learned. I highly urge anyone doing film read it.
"HOW TO MAKE HORROR MOVIE TRAILERS."
Once I finished "How to Make Blockbuster Movie Trailers," I wanted to write about how to make a specific kind of trailer: the horror trailer. While it shares a lot with trailers in general, there are specifics to it that make it unique enough to warrant an entire book.
Also, this one has a real-time construction of a movie trailer.
"THE INVADING"
I've always loved horror novels—especially Steven King's. I've also always loved horror movies. So, I wrote one—in a book. It's a fast read, telling the story of a group of college students stranded in their dorm hall during a snow storm.
All is fine until a strange visitor appears outside their window. What follows is a terror-filled night full of suspense, horror, and mystery.
I wrote this first as a screenplay in 2010, then as a novel in 2011. I didn't get around to publishing it until 2017.
